Confidence Vs. Inadequacy

The financial environment over the past few years has done a lot to fray the nerves of many, within the realm of business and beyond.  As Realtors, we have seen people make choices that just don’t seem to be in concert with the fabric of who they are.  Yet given their financial needs and fears, they did what they did – right or wrong.

Confidence

Our mantra at Al Filippone Asssociates, since the downturn, has been to become so skilled at what you can control that it overcomes that which you can’t.  No doubt that this approach has worked well and goes a long way in building confidence in most anyone who follows that path.

Inadequacy

“Leadership Freak” blogger Dan Rockwell suggests that confidence answers anger and fear, while inadequacy fuels them.  I think he’s probably got it right.  When I look back at the times when I felt most frustrated with a certain circumstance, those were the times that I felt most out of control.

If you’re in control, confidence usually plays a significant role in anchoring down that feeling.  Skill no doubt instills confidence.  I suppose the choice is yours.  Perhaps it’s as simple as that.  Anger, fear and inadquacy or confidence.  The choice is thoroughly yours!

What creates anger and an out of control feeling in your business world?

Would confidence go a long way in overcoming that?  How can you increase the confidence that you have in yourself?
