“When scripted in Chinese, the word crisis is written in two characters – one represents danger and the other represents opportunity.” – John F. Kennedy
I was reading about an interview this week with a college athlete who suffered a severe injury that would impede him from finishing out the season. If the injury affects him to a greater degree than anticipated, it could impact his chances of receiving a professional contract and millions of dollars. The young man was non-flushed. His viewpoint, as expressed through the sports reporter who interviewed him, was that rehabilitating from the injury was going to do nothing except make him stronger and a better player.
The Rythm Of Real Estate
Real estate, like many sports, often moves at a torrid pace with multiple twists and turns with each transaction. That’s the beauty of it. It would be easy to become discouraged on behalf of your buyer clients who can’t find the home that they are looking for. It’s understandable for one to feel the frustration of a seller client who is having a challenge finding a buyer that is willing to pay the seller his or her asking price. Those feelings of discouragement or frustration become magnified if a match is made, only to become jeopardized by an unfavorable building inspection or some other event, unforeseen or not.
A Myopic Focus
That which makes Realtors special is our focus. Circumstances change from day to day, hour to hour and in fact minute to minute. That is the great elixir which gives us the resolve to move forward. The ones who excel find an opportunity in new and unexpected challenges that those changing circumstances bring.
It’s the beginning of a new week. As Emerson wrote, “This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.”
What helps you maintain your composure and emotional fortitude when a situation appears its bleakest?
