The Heartbeat From Within

The real estate market is humming along and that can be dangerous.  This is the time of season that requires you as a realtor to work “in your business” and can lead to an abandonment of your business plan.

Creativity

One component of your plan that is crucial is creativity.  It’s not as important as consistency, but almost.  Dewitt Jones once said, “If our patterns continue unquestioned, they become our prisons.”

I begin every year asking myself, “Al, what strategies will you include in your plan this year that were not part of your plan last year?”  My mindset has consistently been, “How can you expect to increase your production level from last year if you simply execute the same plan?”  And that’s where creativity’s role becomes the difference maker.

Creativity Is:

  • The unique component of a successful business plan
  • Invigorating
  • The mind’s personal trainer
  • The source that fuels our happiness
  • The fuel that jettisons us to a higher level
  • That which expands our mind and gives us a better understanding of ourselves.
  • The “spice of life”

Roller Coaster

If one were to look at a graphic representation of a realtor’s business throughout any given year, it would look like a series of bell curves.  A roller coaster if you will.  And there is good reason.  When we are busy working with buyers and sellers, we seldom force ourselves to carve out a portion of our day whereby we focus solely on executing our business plan.

Commitment

This can be the most rewarding time of year.  But it can also be short lived.  If you would like the graphic of your career to look more like the flight of a bottle rocket, you must remain committed to your plan.  Creativity will certainly provide the inspiration to do just that.

The next time your heart is pulsating from the excitement of another deal done, remember that it’s a manifestation of another sound also.  It’s the heartbeat of your creativity from within.

Have you ever experienced a benefit of creativity that is not mentioned above?

If not, what has prohibited you from doing so?  Please let us know.
