Make New Friends

A conversation that I had today with an agent whom I coach reminded me of one of life’s age old adages.  Make new friends, but keep the old.  One is silver and the other is gold.

The Creativity Component

The business plans that I have read for 2012 are probably as creative as I’ve seen in the twenty-five years that I’ve been in business.  They are sure to generate an optimum number of prospects and provide our clients with the greatest number of opportunities.  We will certainly be touching the lives of many in 2012.

A Different Twist

The agent that I spoke with today said that she will remember to keep her focus on the many inidividuals that she has helped to find or sell a home in the past.  She has a plan to “touch” a specific number of them every week.  She and her former clients can be mutually beneficial to one another in many ways.  Past clients:

  1. Have had prior experiences with you thus tend to have more trust in you than new clients do.
  2. Are more apt to listen to your advice which lends itself to a more rewarding experience for everyone.
  3. Are more likely to refer you to family members and friends.
  4. Due to that greater trust, tend to be more loyal.
  5. Are often your greatest and most vocal supporters.

The Next New Thing

The importance of embracing change cannot be over emphasized.  But too often we focus our attention on that next new thing, at the expense of many experiences of the past.  So go ahead and maintain a forward thinking mindset.  But don’t neglect the people and things that lead to the path that you are on today.  They are gold, and in today’s environment gold is as valuable as ever!
