The second week of the new year is underway and many of us in the real estate industry look at this as the ideal time to hone our skills. The inventory of homes for sale will soon grow exponentially and buyers have already begun their search. We want to be as prepared as we possibly can so that we are best postioned to provide our clients with service beyond their expectations.
Perfect Practice
When we were adolescents we often heard our parents, teachers, mentors or coaches tell us that practice makes perfect. In reality that is actually not very good advice. As adults, many of us measure the success of exercise, whether it be mental or physical, by the the time that it takes us to complete it. Our mind and our muscles actually benefit more from the intensity and prudence of our effort than from its duration. In actuality, perfect practice brings you a lot closer to perfection than just practice.
A Crucial Choice
It is crucial that your selection of a mentor or accountability partner be the correct one for you so that your talents are sharpened to make you the best that you can be. In making your choice, there are a number of things to consider including:
- The length of their experience in the field
- The quality of their experience
- Their strengths and yours
- Their weaknesses and yours
- Their personality profile and how it does or doesn’t compliment yours
- Their business perspective
- Their philosophy on business
- Their perspective and philosophy on life
- Their commitments outside the realm of their chosen field
