Thanksgiving and the Three Questions

The Thanksgiving Holiday is a great reminder of why, as people and realtors, we do the things that we do.

The Three Questions:

In the children’s book, “The Three Questions,”  based on a story by the great Russian writer Leonid Tolstoy, young Nikolai seeks answers to three questions that he has been agonizing over for some time:

When is the best time to do things?

Who is the most important one?

What is the right thing to do?

The Wise Old Turtle

After seeking an opinion from many of his friends in the wilderness, Nikolai’s appetite for answers remains unsatisfied.  Finally, he hikes to the mountains, searching for his oldest and wisest friend of all, Leo the turtle.  As he approaches Leo’s enclave, Nikolai’s own response to a stranger’s cry for help and Leo’s observations of the events that follow, finally bring Nikolai the peace of mind that he desires.

The Answers

The best time to do things is now.

The most important one is the one that you’re with.

The right thing to do is to help others.

We immerse ourselves in Tolstoy’s insights everyday.  As realtors to fulfill our obligations to our clients, for the benefit our business and others.  As people, to enrich the lives of family, friends and strangers too, and for the nourishment of our souls.

Comments

  1. These pearls of wisdom seem so obvious yet are overlooked often in business transactions as well as personal life. What a great, simple reminder.

  2. Thanks for spending time on the computer (writing) so ohters don’t have to.

  3. A great message for the holiday season.

A great reminder about the things we forget.

A great message for those in the fast lane, to slow down and give thought to……simple existence.
