The Calm After The Storm

Well one needs to look no further than the lines at Starbucks this week to realize the extent to which people in our part of the world enjoy their coffee.  Perhaps the entire world.  Yet there are many other messages evoked as residents of Fairfield County, Ct. huddle in their respective town’s most popular meeting place.  They’re simply overjoyed to be able to communicate with the world outside their homes – whether it be verbally or via the internet.

Interacting With Others

Communicating, sharing, treating others as they want to be treated and lending a helping hand.  There’s been so much of that on display this week as we experience the wrath of Hurricane Sandy and it’s aftermath.  When it comes down to it, aren’t they the reasons that we are here on earth?

Kudos To Realtors

Over the years Realtors have been on the forefront of endeavors such as these and this week was no different.  I’ve observed, at a time of severe need, real estate agents who:

  • Checked the home, of a past client who was out of town, for flooding.
  • Turned off the alarm at the vacant home of a current client.
  • Researched and contacted service people of all types to help a client in need.

All of this and much more while attending to the needs of their own family.

An Education

We learn a lot about ourselves when the comforts that we are accustomed to are taken away for a period of time.  Oh yes, believe it or not, there were some incidents reported whereby some unhealthy minds took advantage of what was for many an unfortunate situation.  But once again, for the most part, the essence of who we are brilliantly shown through.  It made the calm after the storm that much more palatable.

What deeds did you observe that were particularly moving?
