The Impact of Visuals

THE BEST AND THE WORST:

Realtors are some of the best and some of the worst in the business world at personal promotion. And when they’re good, they’re very, very good. One of the reasons is that agents who generate prospects from their marketing are those who understand the power of visuals. Whether it be in their marketing pieces or their presentations, they live by the golden rule that “a picture can be worth a thousand dollars!”

YOUR NEXT PRESIDENT:

I watched a presidential campaign ad this morning while I was working out. The candidate looked very debonair, very much at ease in front of the camera and delivered what seemed like a compelling argument. To paraphrase, he stated that although he may not always be eloquent in articulating his message, a President’s success will not be determined by his or her skill at reading from a teleprompter, but in the execution of a well thought-out, solid recovery plan. His proven track record spoke to that issue and gave substance to his credibility, he declared.

A MESSAGE ON “DEAF EARS”:

While the statistics that he gave to support his statement were quite impressive, it struck me how much the impact of the ad would have been enhanced had there been a graphic in big, bold letters illustrating his accomplishments. By the end of my workout I had forgotten every single one of them. In fact, researchers have found that the impact of a speech that is accompanied by visuals increases by 55% after just three days: Boosting Recall

Those whose business plan for 2012 includes personal promotion should take note. As for me, I can’t wait until my next blogging class tomorrow when I’ll learn how to embed visuals into my blog posts!

Getting your home prepared for the market sure is a “visual” thng. Today on tour, first two homes I visited were depressing at best!!! Both were partially vacant with tattered drapes, broken steps, and piles of the leftovers from each room in a heap! And then the realtor stated…”Don’t bother going to the basement, more of the same”. I left these homes on a rainy day feeling even more blue!!! If I am depressed and I do this for a living, think how tunred off a hopeful buyer must be!!! I always tell clients that they have one chance to be NEW and at the beginnig, right out of the gate, you’ve got to look your best!!! A picture does tell a thousand words and the wrong picture costs a homeowner thousands of dollars!
