Time to Make Hay

As written in this past Friday’s blog, the Monday after Super Bowl Sunday marks the beginning of the Spring real estate market.

The Weather’s Blessing

Adding to the prospects of brisk sales in February is the unusually calm weather that we’ve been experiencing in the northeast and most of the country.  Open houses have been extremely well attended, scheduled showings by Realtors have buyers backed up to view our listings and we have entertained multiple offers on a number of our properties.

Pedal to The Medal

For Realtors, this is the time of year to keep your head down, the “pedal to the metal” and just forge ahead with every ounce of energy that you have.  This is no time to allow frustrations to slow you down.

Use Your Time Wisely

A recent survey from the National Association of Realtors suggests where you should channel your resources.  When asked how they first learned of the availability of the home that they purchased, here’s how buyers responded:

  • Print Advertising – 2%
  • For Sale By Owner – 2%
  • Builder – 4%
  • Friend, neighbor or relative – 6%
  • For Sale Sign – 11%
  • Realtor – 37%
  • Internet – 38%

Futhermore, 50% of all buyers moved from out of town.

This is the first time in the ten plus years that NAR has conducted this survey whereby the response to the internet was actually higher than the response to the realtor.

There you have it.  Happy Selling – it’s time to make hay!
