We’re about to enter the fourth quarter of the year and quarter four of the real estate marketplace. Combined with the pressures that can accompany the coming of the holiday season, this is a time when stress can build to it’s highest level. Below you’ll find the causes of stress, ways to determine if you are in fact stressed and some suggested remedies.
Stress Determiners
- You often complete the sentence of someone that you’re talking with.
- You regularly feel overwhelmed with the amount of work that you have.
- You consistently run late.
- You wonder if you’re in the right career.
- You anger easily, often at minor things.
- You find it difficult to concentrate on one task at a time.
- You delay initiating or even returning phone calls, even to your best clients because you don’t feel up to talking to them.
Remedies
- A plan of action – Helps you focus your time and minimizies the feeling that you’re not accomplishing anything.
- Avoiding indecision – Time used weighing all the facts or worrying could be spent implementing tasks.
- Know your limits – Not knowing when to say no will lead to poor performance and mental fatigue.
- Don’t Procrastinate – Perform the necessary tasks that you enjoy the least, first. Then reward yourself in some small way. This eliminates the agonizing feeling of a work day that is void of progress.
- Avoid Interruptions – Close your circles. Finishing one task before beginning another helps you to accomplish more. Study after study proves that those who think that they are getting more done by “multi-tasking” are actually less productive.
Stress Producers For Realtors
- Prospecting – Fear of rejection leads to procrastination.
- Presentations – Fear of not being prepared, pricing challenges and not securing the business.
- Closing – Fear of confrontation or not meeting the client’s expectations.
- Time Constraints – The difficulty of juggling career with familial responsibilities.
