The 90 Day Affair

I can see it in your eyes.  Summer is in full force and the attraction to all the distraction is very compelling.  Besides, there’s no point in trying to prospect because so many people are away on vacation.  Or so it seems.

That is certainly the mind set of many Realtors and it’s easy to understand how one could have that perspective.  Personally I was fortunate enough to close an unexpected sale one year, and that memory has managed to keep such counter productive thoughts out of my mind.

Christmas Eve

It was the day before Christmas and I received a call on one of my listings.  I didn’t really feel like showing the house at that time but of course I did.  I met a gentleman at the property who was quite enthralled with the offering.  He asked if he could return to see the home with his partner later in the afternoon.  I obliged, and  two days later they made a full price offer which was accepted.  Blessed with that occurrence, I never made the mistake of thinking that any particular day or time of year would be void of activity.

Ninety Day Cycle

Real estate entails cycles of ninety days or more.  Make no mistake about it.  Your business load in the fall is generally predicated on the prospecting that you did durng the summertime and before.  Many in your sphere may be away, and many more may not be thinking real estate.  But some are, and this is especially the time of year when just “showing up” can reap tremendous rewards.

Do you at times slow down because you think that “there’s nothing going on?”

Have you ever been surprised by a similar experience to mine?
